Membership and Council Leadership
- The Council for Online Learning Excellence is comprised of individuals who have influence on the advancement of online and hybrid teaching and learning activities at individual state institutions.
- Membership on the council should be representative of the diverse needs and perspectives of state institutions while also limited in size to support efficient management and advancement of initiatives. Criteria for membership selection should include institution size, type, geography and the professional role. At a minimum, COLE members should include students, faculty members, professional administrators, instructional designers/technologists and librarians. COLE membership should include a traditional student (age 15-30), a nontraditional student (age 31 and over) and/or student with assistive needs.
- The council should be facilitated by a chair who is a member of the council. The chair is responsible for coordination, management and communication of council activities.
- The chair of the council is appointed by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
- Each member of the council agrees to serve a three-year term at which time the member may request a continuation of service for another three-year term or recommend a replacement. Membership on the council is approved by the chair with input from other council members. Each council member should also be approved to serve on the council by an appropriate leader from their institution (e.g. President, Provost, etc.).
