People who are currently in the process of paying back their college student loans may be surprised to know that their student loans could be forgiven, cancelled or even discharged under certain circumstances.
To help students and their families understand loan forgiveness, the Mapping Your Future Web site will be offering an online chat session on this topic at 6 p.m. May 11.
During the chat session, financial aid experts from across the nation will share information about the Stafford and Perkins loan forgiveness programs, including how to determine eligibility for and how to apply for loan forgiveness. They will also provide useful information on how to pay for college, as well as answer other general financial aid questions.
Anyone with Internet access can join in the chat by visiting www.mapping-your-future.org. Simple instructions will guide them on how to join the chat.
