August 29, 2003 :: Deferments and Forbearances Topic of Upcoming Chat Event
Borrowers seeking to delay student loan payments due to economic hardships or other reasons can get information about deferments and forbearances during a live interactive chat session scheduled at 2 p.m. Sept. 9.
Titled “Deferments, Forbearances and Default Prevention,” the chat session is sponsored by Mapping Your Future, a college, career and financial aid Web site.
Career-counseling experts from across the country will be on hand during the chat where participants will learn more about deferments and forbearances and the application process for each, the types of deferments and deferment options, as well as deferment eligibility.

The Mapping Your Future Web site is sponsored by the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program (OGSLP) and other guaranty agencies that participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program.
In Oklahoma, loans for higher education or post-secondary education made to students by private or public lending institutions are guaranteed by the federal government through OGSLP, which is administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
