January 7, 2008 :: Task Force to Determine Statewide Recommendations on Campus Safety
What: Final meeting and decision on recommendations from Gov. Henry’s Campus Life and Safety and Security (CLASS) Task Force to study safety at Oklahoma’s college and CareerTech campuses

Who: Fifteen officials from higher education, career technology education, public safety and health services
Why: After seven months of research, meetings and surveys, the task force will discuss and vote on final recommendations on campus safety from its five subcommittees: Notification, Response, Counseling, Laws and Policies, and Funding. These recommendations will be compiled in a final report that will be issued to the governor and legislative leadership later this month.
Background: Brad Henry created CLASS by an Executive Order in April 2007 following the Virginia Tech shootings.
