Who: The CLASS Task Force was established by Governor Brad Henry in 2007 in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy to recommend ways to improve campus safety. The fifteen member task force is comprised of officials from higher education, career technology education, public safety and health services.
Why: HB 2513, which was recently approved by the Oklahoma House of Representatives and is now awaiting action in Senate, allows students who are active military, honorably discharged or CLEET certified and who have a valid concealed handgun license to carry handguns onto college campuses. The meeting will provide a forum for the invited guests and the task force to express comments and concerns with the legislation.
