OPSU's Hamilton Earns Huge Student Athlete Honor
The Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division II have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America, and Oklahoma Panhandle State's Rob Hamilton has been honored.
This honor is a unique one as far as All-America teams go because it is based upon athletic accomplishment, scholarship, and citizenship. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70% of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 78.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale. Recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Hamilton will be back at OPSU for his senior season and is a well liked and well respected student athlete at the school. He hits the ball “a ton” and backs it up with an outgoing personality and a good sense of humor. He also works hard in both the classroom and on the golf course.
Part of the OPSU “Australian Connection” (that includes several student athletes) - Hamilton hails from Canberra and his coach, Roger McKinnon, is looking for another big year from the young man from “Down Under.”
