Swimming and diving athletes recently converged on Oklahoma City during the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Swimming and Diving National Championships hosted at the OCCC Aquatic Center Feb. 29 through March 3.

The Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) men and the Fresno Pacific (Calif.) women were crowned national champions during the meet. The OBU Bison won the championship in the program’s first year in existence. It was also the first championship for the Fresno Pacific women.

Six records fell on the final day of competition at the OCCC Aquatic Center, bringing the total to 21 records broken during the meet. Individual awards were also given out on the final day of the championships.

Approximately 350 top NAIA swimmers and divers were in Oklahoma City during the 2012 competition, and OCCC will welcome the swimmers and divers back next year for the 2013 national championship meet.
