Rose State aquatic program named top in U.S.

The Rose State College Aquatics Center

The United States Water Fitness Association has named the Rose State College Aquatic Program the Top Junior College Aquatic Program in the United States, the Top Junior College Aquatic Program in the State of Oklahoma and ranked the program as 19th of the overall top Aquatic Programs in the United States.

Other honors included top rankings to Aquatic Center Director Kim Queri, the water fitness programs and the aquatic personal training programs. The awards are based on the health and safety of the facility and programs, the staff members' qualifications and certifications, the administration of the programs, special events and leadership development.

According to Queri, the United States Water Fitness Association is one of the top governing bodies in aquatics.

"It is an honor to be recognized as one of the top aquatic programs in the country," she said. "The goal of the Aquatic Center has been to strive for excellence. It is because our dedicated staff and hard working instructors that we have been recognized."

The Rose State College Aquatic Center features a 25-meter, six lane, indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, four locker rooms and two family-unit dressing rooms. The depth of the pool ranges from four feet at the shallow end to 13 feet and has a ramp for handicap access.

RSC offers a variety of programs for learning to swim, lifeguard training, swimming instructor training and water fitness as well as therapeutic classes. The Aquatic Center serves the community with the summer Kid's College program and the high school swim teams within the Mid-Del School District.
