Welcome to Oklahoma higher education’s degree program search page. Here, you can search for degree and certificate programs offered by Oklahoma state colleges and universities. Below are instructions for using the files, as well as some tips to help you understand more about how the degree listings are organized.
- To search for institutions that offer degree or certificate programs in a specific discipline, click on the links on the "By Discipline" page. Look through a file for the information you need, or use your browser's "Find" command to search for specific keywords.
- To search for all degree and certificate programs offered by a specific institution, click on the links on the "By Institution" page. Look through a file for the information you need, or use your browser's "Find" command to search for specific keywords.
When searching for a particular discipline, it is important to understand a few points.
- Note that program names may be abbreviated, so if you do not find what you are looking for, try alternate spellings (e.g., "ACCTG" for "ACCOUNTING").
- As with any search, if you do not find exactly what you are looking for, broaden your search with different keywords to consider several possibilities, then take the time to follow-up by contacting the institutions, consulting their Web pages or reviewing their catalogs.
- Each degree or certificate program is assigned a six-digit Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) code which serves to group various fields of study. The first two digits represent the most general groupings of related programs, while the four- and six-digit codes represent increasingly refined and specific groupings of programs.
- Your search of academic programs will be based on the summary level (first two digits) of the CIP codes, as they are provided by the institutions. Although these are broad groupings, it may be helpful to search several possible discipline areas. For example, a program for Health and Leisure may be coded with a 13 if it is primarily a teacher education program. If it concentrates more on providing recreational, leisure and fitness services, it would be coded with a 31.
- Additionally, it should be recognized that this listing represents the degree and certificate programs offered by institutions. Many institutions also offer options under their programs which further define a concentration of study. Thus, your search may be able to locate several offerings for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Services degree, but it will not tell you if any of these programs offer an option in Networking, for example.
- Finally, it should also be noted that the CIP code taxonomy and definitions have undergone revisions over the years, so you should contact the institution(s) you are interested in attending for more specific information.
