Southeastern Oklahoma State University and AllianceHealth Durant

AllianceHealth Durant and Southeastern Oklahoma State University have maintained a mutually beneficial relationship for more than 20 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AllianceHealth Durant’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Samrow and its physicians provided student-athletes with additional tests, including cardiac testing, pulmonary function testing and follow-up care if needed. Team physicians Dr. W. Joseph Harrison and Dr. Amanda Hale led the response, accompanied by Dr. Nirmal Kaur, to ensure these athletes were spared COVID-19 side effects that would place them with an increased risk to injury or illness. The expertise of these physicians, and the leadership from Kevin Samrow and AllianceHealth Durant allowed SEOSU to maintain some sense of normalcy while students were able to continue their education. With an enrollment of 5,000 students, it is critical that SEOSU maintains operations as it positively impacts the local and surrounding economy. SEOSU students increase local business activity, comprise some of the labor force and participate in community engagement.
