Oklahoma State System of Higher Education Chancellor Glen D. Johnson released the following statement about the death of Murray State College President William D. Pennington on Saturday evening:

“I was deeply saddened when I received tragic news of the death of Murray State College President Bill Pennington,” said Johnson. “President Pennington dedicated his life and career to education, starting as a public school teacher in Tulsa, later helping college students in Tulsa and Enid, and leading Murray State College in Tishomingo as its president. His contributions across the state have touched so many. We will keep President Pennington's family in our thoughts and prayers.”
