The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education announced Thursday that Dr. Blake Sonobe will be the vice chancellor for academic affairs beginning Jan. 1, 2013.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Sonobe to our team at the State Regents,” said Chancellor Glen D. Johnson. “His strong academic credentials, his experience on the faculty at the Air Force Academy, and his tenure as the senior academic officer at Southwestern Oklahoma State University have been excellent preparation for his new position. We are eager for him to assume his new responsibilities as we address the challenges and opportunities ahead in Oklahoma higher education.”

Sonobe has been active in the Weatherford community. He is a member of Weatherford Rotary Club, serving as president in 2000-01. He has also been a member of the Gen. Thomas P.
