March 1, 2006 :: Civic Groups Can Now Book Future Speakers Through State Regents’ Speakers Bureau

Media Contact

Civic groups or clubs interested in learning more about Oklahoma higher education can now go through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Speakers Bureau to schedule speakers for future meetings.

The State Regents’ Speakers Bureau provides knowledgeable speakers who have years of experience in higher education and are equipped for sharing the most up-to-date education news and information affecting Oklahomans and their communities.

State Regents’ staff can discuss a variety of topics with interested civic groups in areas such as student preparation, including information on Oklahoma’s premier scholarship program, Oklahoma’s Promise-OHLAP. They can also talk about the role higher education plays in economic development, especially in relation to Gov. Brad Henry’s EDGE (Economic Development Generating Excellence) initiative. Other possible speaker topics include information concerning state funding, teacher preparation, financial aid, capital bond projects, legislative issues affecting higher education and distance learning, just to name a few.

To schedule a speaker for your civic group or to learn more about the State Regents’ Speakers Bureau, contact Harve Allen at 405.225.9182 or
