Vocal Oklahomans in Civic Engagement (VOICE) is challenging Oklahoma colleges and universities to register the most voters on their campuses on Oct. 1 and 2 to win the title of 2003-2004 VOICE Voter Registration Champion and a concert by the Oklahoma band Spider Douglas.

“College students have many opportunities to impact their community, state and country by earning a degree and joining the workforce as well as contributing through civic involvement,” said Chancellor Paul G. Risser. “It is exciting to see Oklahoma students taking the lead on one of our country’s most important opportunities and privileges – voting. The State Regents look forward to watching these students take an active role in the future of our state.”

Currently, 15 colleges and universities will host special activities and provide registration booths to encourage their students to register.

The winning campus will be selected based on the percentage of student voters registered compared to total campus enrollment.

Campuses signed up to participate are Cameron University, Lawton; Connors State College, Warner; East Central University, Ada; Langston University; Northeastern State University; Tahlequah, Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa; Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva; Oklahoma City Community College; Oklahoma State University, Stillwater; Rose State College, Midwest City; Seminole State College; Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant; Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford; University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond; and Western Oklahoma State College, Altus.
