OSU-OKC Counselor Luncheon a Success, $10,000 Awarded to Help Students

OSU-OKC Student Government Association vice president Jonathan Schwartz, Oklahoma State University’s mascot Pistol Pete and OSU-OKC lead campus representative Leigha Stevenson took part in the Counselor Appreciation Luncheon.

OSU-Oklahoma City offered $10,000 in scholarships to high school counselors at its recent Counselor Appreciation Luncheon. Winning counselors took the scholarships to their respective schools to award the student of their choice by May 1.

This year’s luncheon, coordinated by the OSU-OKC recruitment team, included a variety of speakers and unique door prizes. This year, Pistol Pete also took part by helping to award prizes and take pictures with counselors.

“Door prizes are always a highlight of the luncheon, but this year we included several new, exciting additions,” says Leigha Stevenson, OSU-OKC recruitment specialist.

This year’s prizes included gift cards to the school cafeteria, The Hub; gift certificates to participate in the Alive@25 Driver Training Course; and the Precision Driver Training class; and 10 $1,000 scholarships.

“OSU-OKC believes building relationships is the best way to build strong students,” Stevenson says. “The recruitment team developed the idea of scholarships this year as a way to further strengthen the relationships they have with counselors and their students interested in OSU-OKC.”
