Topping Out Celebration Held at University Center

Chancellor Glen D. Johnson, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, was the guest speaker for the Topping Out Ceremony for the Health, Science + Math Center. The event was held on Sept. 4 at 2901 Mt. Washington Road, the location of the new campus of the University Center of Southern Oklahoma.

The event celebrated the placement of the final beam on the steel structure of the facility that is currently under construction for the new campus of the University Center.

Students, former students and supporters of the new campus of the University Center were invited to become a part of the University Center legacy by signing their names on the final beam of the Health, Science + Math Center.

The event concluded with the beam being hoisted into position atop the structure of the new building.

“After almost 10 years of planning by the University Center board of trustees and staff we are extremely pleased to see this dream of the citizens of southern Oklahoma of a college campus in Ardmore finally starting to materialize. The development of this new campus will allow our college and university partners that comprise the University Center to add new academic programs and increase services to the many students that choose to remain in southern Oklahoma to continue and complete their college degree,” said Dr. Steve Mills, president/CEO of the University Center.
