NSU Students partner with FBI for real-world experience

Through the student-created Entervision Recruitment Agency, NSU students hope to bring Oklahomans into the new era of the FBI. The unique industry-education partnership is thanks to EdVenture Partners.

Under the direction of Northeastern State University marketing professor Dr. Michael Landry, 36 students enrolled in the fall 2003 Promotional Strategy course have developed a marketing plan to recruit competitive Special Agent and Professional Support Applicants for positions within the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Not bad for a group of college kids. The unique partnership is a part of an industry education program sponsored by EdVenture Partners.

Operating off a $2,500 budget, NSU students have created a working marketing agency (Entervision Recruitment Agency), responsible for researching, implementing and evaluating an integrated marketing campaign for their client, the FBI. Over a nine-week period, the students will measure the effectiveness of their marketing campaign which focuses on increasing the number of qualified, competitive applicants who apply for Special Agent and Professional Support positions. To date, the students have utilized various advertising promotions including business cards, information fliers, and newspaper and radio ads.

Northeastern is one of eight universities selected for the fall 2003 project and one of two universities returning after participating in the 2002 pilot program. Joining Northeastern in the FBI program are Clark Atlanta University in Georgia; Howard University in Washington; Jackson State University in Mississippi; Norfolk State University in Virginia; California State University at Fullerton; San Jose State University and the University of Texas in San Antonio.

EdVenture Partners, an educational marketing company based in Burkeley, CA, has designed unique industry-education partnerships with over 300 campuses across the United States. EdVenture Partners, in conjunction
with the FBI, provides each student agency with ongoing resources, guidance and a project budget to implement their marketing campaign.
