Regent Jeffrey W. Hickman

Regent Jeff HickmanRegent Jeffrey W. Hickman, from Fairview, Oklahoma, was appointed as an Oklahoma State Regent by Governor Mary Fallin in May 2017, serving a nine year term ending in 2026.  The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education is the constitutional coordinating board for the Oklahoma colleges and universities responsible for allocating state funds, setting admission standards and academic policies.

Regent Hickman, is president and CEO of the Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association, which provides operational support and service administration for members of the Oklahoma Agribusiness Retailers Association, Oklahoma Seed Trade Association and Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association.  In addition, he has been involved with his family’s farming operation in Alfalfa and Woods counties since childhood, and is now the fifth generation in his family to own and farm land near Dacoma and Cherokee in northwest Oklahoma.

Elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2004, Regent Hickman served as Speaker of the House for three legislative terms, from 2014-2016, but was unable to seek re-election due to legislative term limits.  Prior to his election as Speaker, Regent Hickman served as Speaker Pro Tempore and chairman of the Revenue and Taxation Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee, Public Safety Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee, and Insurance and Retirement Committee.   

Regent Hickman also served as vice president of Omni Media Group in Woodward.  He spent seven years working in higher education at The University of Oklahoma, where he served as university press secretary, public affairs special projects coordinator and as an assistant to the president and to the athletic director.

 Regent Hickman earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with distinction from The University of Oklahoma.  He and his wife, Jana, live in Fairview, Oklahoma, and have three children.
