Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Wallace was recognized today with the 2020 Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education. He was honored for his support of higher education in his role as Chair of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee and as a member of the Insurance Committee and the State and Federal Redistricting North Central Oklahoma Subcommittee.

“Since his election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2014, Rep. Wallace has been a consistent advocate for our state system colleges and universities,” said Chancellor Glen D. Johnson. “His successful, extensive business experience and commitment to providing workforce opportunities in Oklahoma should be commended, and he clearly recognizes the value of a higher education. We are pleased to honor Rep. Wallace with a Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education.”

The Distinguished Service Awards for Higher Education recognize individuals who demonstrate distinguished leadership and support of higher education in Oklahoma during the legislative session. It is the highest award presented by the State Regents and the Council of College and University Presidents.

“What an honor to receive this award,” Wallace said. “Higher education is a key for young people to secure a job they love and to earn more income. This benefits not only their own lives, but that of their families, their communities and overall, our entire state. I’m happy to support the goals of our state’s higher education and Career Tech systems and the work they do on behalf of all Oklahomans.”
