Oklahoma State Sen. Gary Stanislawski was recognized with a 2019 Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education during today’s meeting of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. He was honored for his support of higher education in his role as Chair of the Education committee. He also serves as Chair of the General Government and Transportation committee; as Vice Chair of the Business, Commerce and Tourism Committee; and as a member of the Appropriations, Retirement and Insurance, and Rules committees.
“Sen. Gary Stanislawski has been a champion for Oklahoma higher education since his election to the State Senate in 2008,” said Chancellor Glen D. Johnson. “We thank him for his effective advocacy on behalf of the state system of higher education to fully fund our concurrent enrollment program. He has also been a strong supporter of our budget request, including a much-needed faculty salary increase. We are pleased to honor him with a 2019 Distinguished Service Award for Higher Education.”
The Distinguished Service Awards for Higher Education recognize individuals who demonstrate distinguished leadership and support of higher education in Oklahoma during the legislative session. It is the highest award presented by the State Regents and the Council of College and University Presidents.
“I am very grateful for this award,” said Stanislawski. “I find it very rewarding to support our students in higher education while encouraging them to fulfill their dreams for a better Oklahoma.”
