Cox Communications has been a great partner and advocate for Tulsa Community College. The Cox organization actively supports TCC. Its senior leadership has served on the foundation board in key roles, including chair of the foundation’s annual fundraiser, Vision Dinner. In addition, Cox’s director of public affairs, Tiffani Bruton, was named a TCC Distinguished Alumni in 2008 and was recognized as a TCC 50 Notable Alumni during the 50th Anniversary celebration.
Cox has financially supported the college through donations, such as Clearing the Pathway: The Campaign for Completion, which raised funds to help remove barriers to student success and produce more college graduates for the workforce.
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Cox provided free Wi-Fi in the parking lots of the TCC Metro Campus so students could access free internet to complete assignments and attend online classes from the safety of their vehicles. Likewise, they have consistently offered discounted internet services to TCC students and those in other schools around the community.
Another successful partnership is the Cox Small Business Leadership Academy, a 10-week continuing education and leadership development program delivered through TCC Continuing Education’s Corporate Training. Cox has underwritten the full cost for those selected to participate in the Small Business Leadership Academy, which launched in September 2022. It is designed for all small business owners and leaders, but with a special emphasis to empower businesses owned or led by minorities, veterans, women, Native Americans and individuals with disabilities. The program has the potential to serve at least 100 individuals over a three-year period.
